REAL ID – Important Information
Beginning May 7, 2025 all residents of Pennsylvania are required to have either a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another form of federally-acceptable identification (such as a valid Passport BOOK or military ID) to board a domestic commercial flight or enter a federal building or military installation that requires ID.
Getting a new REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or photo ID card is optional for Pennsylvania residents, but will be required if you plan on using this as your government issued photo I.D. when checking in for domestic flights. If you choose to use your valid Passport or Military ID, it is not necessary to obtain a new driver’s license with REAL ID. Please visit www.PennDOT.gov/REALID for more information.
Starting January 8, 2025 – an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is required for all U.S. citizens travelling to Great Britian – even if you are just changing planes in London!
The ETA is required for all travelers, even children and infants. The cost is 10 GBP and the application is fairly quick and takes about 20-minutes to complete. It could take up to three days to receive authorization which is received via e-mail. The ETA will be valid for multiple short visits over two years. Travelers only need to apply for an ETA every two years or when their passport expires, whichever comes sooner, not every time they visit the UK.
This is required for all countries in Great Britian: England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
